Supporting Sports
Taschibra bets on sports as a means of growing and developing honest, responsible and worthy citizens. It sees sports activities as a tool for social inclusion and relates the practice of sports to citizenship as it contributes to the formation of individuals by working on values such as team spirit, responsibility, overcoming challenges and respect for the opponents.
Taschibra believes that by supporting sports it is possible to guarantee a better future for the society, growing healthy generations who will remain far from addictions.
That is why Taschibra motivates projects related to this philosophy:
APAB
The Basketball Friends and Parents Association (Associação de Pais e Amigos do Basquete) – APAB - is a Sport Regional Project which promotes the development of youngsters in the practice of basketball training teams to participate in state competitions. The association stared in 2001 and since then it has been supporting sports schools and sports performance teams.
To support APAB, Taschibra takes part of a Project in partnership with Bom Jesus School, Alta Papéis (Paper Company), Blumenau Bank of Brazil Athletic Association (Associação Atlética Banco do Brasil de Blumenau) and Blumenau Sports Municipal Foundation (Fundação Municipal de Desportes de Blumenau).
Through this project Taschibra destines part of the resources obtained with the sale of trash produced in the company and sent to be recycled. Around 14 tons of trash of carton and plastic are produced per month and sold to the paper company Alta Papéis. The resource is resent directly to APAB and used to finance the expenses of refereeing, championship inscriptions, food, transport, uniforms and training centers.
With this incentive, APAB went from 3 to 15 basketball initiation centers and the number of youngsters practicing the sport increased considerably. Nowadays, approximately 500 youngsters are supported by the training centers and more than 100 in the performance teams.
Today, athletes have physical work assessment and prescription, physiotherapy, medical assistance, training and team uniforms and help with food costs.
IFAS
Taschibra also extends the Figuerense Professional team sponsorship to the Social Assistance Figuereinse Institute (Instituto Figueirense de Assistência Social) – IFAS. In this way, it assists 130 youngsters that participate in the low category teams of the club, and helps the communities nearby the Stadium.
IFAS is the social arm of Figueirense Football Club (Figueirense Futebol Clube). This institute is responsible for the study of the low club category youngsters. The job goes from searching for schools for the athletes to controlling grades and class attendance. Recreational activities, as movie sessions, barbecues and lectures on subjects according to their interests and ages, are also organized periodically. It all aims at guaranteeing a promising future for these youngsters and kids allowing them to have moments of integration and demonstration.
IFAS also carries out activities with needy communities from Grande Florianóplis and rarely, from other regions of the State. The institute is responsible for the Project “Rooter of the Future” which receives children and rooters in the club; it carries out events for public schools children from the capital and from neighbor cities. In October, it serves requests for donation of official T – shirts for charity entities; it promotes campaigns to collect money for noble causes, spreads this through games and events related to the club and it also promotes athletes visits to hospitals.
IFAS started from the growth of the jobs done so far by the vice-presidency of integration to the community and the need to spread and professionalize social activities. With the creation of IFAS, the club increased its commitment with society and with the youngsters of its lower sports categories.
